Classroom Management Plan for Mrs. Hellmann’s Room 325:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I will go over classroom rules on the first day of school and review them often with your child.  Please take this time to review the expectations I have for your child this year in kindergarten. Thanks in advance for your support!   Remember no news, is good news!

Rules:

  1. Listening Bodies - (I will listen and follow directions).

   2. Raised Hands - (I will raise my hand to share ideas).

   3.Quiet Mouths - (I will use a soft voice).

4.Walking Feet - (I will walk in school to be safe).

5.Helping Hands - (I will use my hands for helping and not hurting).

6.Caring Hearts - (I will use kind words and take pride in my work).

Rewards:

  1. Verbal praise

  2. Happy Note Home

  3. Stickers, stamps

  4. Grab from the “goodie jar”

  5. Warm Fuzzies (reward coupons)

In the chance that someone does not follow the class rules, I feel it is important for the students to be held accountable for their actions. Students will have natural consequences for their actions in a timely manner.

Consequences:

  1. Verbal reminder (I will model appropriate behavior and brainstorm better choices).

  2. Teacher will note the behavior in a notebook and student will correct the behavior. . (Examples of fixing a kindergarten mistake are cleaning up a mess, telling a friend sorry, practice using manners, putting away a toy after improper use, or redoing an assignment).

  3. Student will have a conference with the teacher reinforcing classroom expectations and will receive an “Oops” note to be signed by a parent. If I do not get the Oops note back, I will email or call the parent. ( a 5 minute time out will occur if a child gets an Oops! Note)

  4. If a behavior cannot be resolved students will be sent to the principal with an office referral. If the behavior continues I will schedule a meeting with the parents.

*Severe disruption will mean immediate #4 above.  (Note; the letter home or phone call is not meant to be a punishment but a time for the parent, teacher, and student to reflect and resolve behavior in order to achieve a more cohesive social and learning environment.) If any behavior continues over an extended amount of time and is disruptive to the learning environment or hindering the student(s) in any way a daily goal chart will be generated.  This chart will be agreed upon by the teacher and parents and put in the take home folder as a daily communication tool.

I have read and understand Mrs. Hellmann’s Classroom Management Plan. Please sign and return this portion of the form to class.
